Transformational, Reminder and Teaser Ads

  • Transformational Advertising- A transformational advertisement is one which associates the experience of using (consuming) the advertised brand with a unique set of psychological characteristics which would not typically be associated with the brand experience to the same degree without exposure to the advertisement. Thus, advertisements in this category "transform" the experience of using the brand by endowing this use with a particular experience that is different from that of using any similar brand. It is the advertisement itself which links the brand with the capacity to provide the consumer with an experience that is different from the consumption experience that would normally be expected to occur without exposure to the advertisement. In the following ad, Corning Glass has totally transformed their product from a boring and mundane one to something that customer sees as interesting and exciting. It's a bit long, but a great example of a transformational ad.

  • Reminder Advertisements- These are usually used by well established brands to just keep their product or brand on the top-of-the-mind of the consumer. Snickers and Coca-Cola are good examples.

  • Teaser Advertisements- Teasers are series of ads to create suspense when selling the product. They are usually used on new product launches. Examples below are, Raisin Rouge fragrances by Zohoor Alreef and launch of Nokia Lumia New version.
